In recent years, there has been a growing demand for lifestyle branding office photography, and I often get enquiries to ask if I do this type of photography. And I am very happy to say that, I do! I was approached by London based Jigsaw Business Solutions after they saw on my website my Just Eat lifestyle branding photography – a project that I took to provide content for their careers website (you can have a look at the gallery here). What is lifestyle branding photography?
In essence is a type of photography that aims to capture candid looking images of people engaged in everyday activities. The purpose is to capture the essence of a person or in this case, of people in a specific environment. This type of photography has multiple uses including advertising, branding, social media or editorial content. It often involves shooting on location rather than a studio setting.
What is lifestyle branding office photography?
Lifestyle office photography may include candid shots of employees working, interacting with each other, or participating in company events. It might also include images of the office space itself, such as the design, layout, and features that make it unique. The purpose of it can vary, from marketing and branding to internal communications. Usage wise can be website and social media content, marketing materials, company newsletters and even office décor.
What is my approach to lifestyle branding office photography?
With my lifestyle office photography i aim to capture the personality of a workplace and its uniqueness, creating a visual story around it, helping to showcase your company’s values and culture through engaging photographs. I make it a very easy process as I have the ability to put people at ease and make them feel comfortable and relaxed in front of the camera, so the results are very natural.

Jigsaw was kicking off the start of 2023 with a brand new website (which you can see here). In addition to capturing lifestyle photographs, I was also asked to create headshots and team photos so this could be added to the website content and socials

Lifestyle office photography: The planning process
We settled on 2 shooting days. The reason for this is that often, more so with the ability for people to work remotely, not everyone is in the office on the same day. Also, people can have a change of schedule with very short notice, meetings taking place and other circumstances. So I always advise to schedule it over 2 days.
They also shared with me their website draft so I could see which type of images they needed, so I could bespoke their lifestyle office photography to their content.
Lifestyle branding office photography: The shooting day
I brought with me my portable photographic studio and I set it for the headshots in a quiet separated room. This made it more a relaxing experience for the person been photographed as they were not being watched by the rest of their team.
I also provided tethering capture. You might be wondering, what is this? So, while I do the headshot photography my camera is connected to my laptop so you can see your pictures as I take them, select your favourites and also you will know what to expect when receiving your final edited headshot.
Then I moved into their office space and I photographed them during some of their meetings using my “fly-on-the-wall” technique, where I photograph people in a unobtrusive manner, so I get the best natural result. I had to set up some minimal lighting to create that warm feeling that they were after.
I also photographed them during a workshop that Lush cosmetics were delivering at their office, where members of staff got the opportunity to make some of their iconic bath bombs and creams.
Moving on to some more informal shots. I felt that they were really important, like this one of some members of the Jigsaw Business Solutions team enjoying a game of table football!
