As The Coronation of King Charles III, The King – and his wife, soon to be known as Queen Consort Camilla – is taking place this coming weekend on Saturday the 6th of May 2023, I thought I should dedicate this weeks article to the different occasions, out of many, that I have had the opportunity to photograph as an event photographer and as a news photographer – The King of England in official royal engagements ahead of the Kings Coronation weekend.
The Queen: Elizabeth II
Last week i was the Event Photographer of choice at an Awards Lunch for the Civil Servants body. It was really obvious to me how much of an incredible impact the life of Queen Elizabeth II has had on so many. She is still very much in people memories.

Ahead of The Coronation weekend for Charles III Coronation she is in the memory of the nation.
Event Photographer: HRH Prince Charles now Charles III
I was privileged enough to photograph HRH Prince Charles now The King Charles III on multiple occasions throughout my career as a professional photographer, as a News Photographer and also as an Event Photographer. The Coronation weekend has brought me back to all the different occasions that I have had the opportunity to photograph him.

Needless to say that every occasion felt really special and an honour to be the Event Photographer of choice. The atmosphere can be very tense and there are a lot of protocols to follow. Every picture is taken in just a split second, there are no second opportunities and it has to be perfect.
Working as a photographer in a Royal Engagement means that you have to respect the distance and also you cannot approach the member of the Royal Family, there is a program and a schedule, so you need to be ready and cause minimal disruption. The member of the Royal Family is aware of you and they facilitate the pictures that are relevant but you really need to be absolutely ready for when that moment happens as it is often in a split of a second.
I have to say that I personally really enjoy working in such a high pressure environments as I find it very challenging but also extremely rewarding.

As well as capturing the official posed and stage pictures, I always try to capture all those candid and spontaneous moments that happen as the Royal Engagement unfolds as I find those capture the essence of the event. Like this one of The King and The Queen Consort Camilla

I did really enjoy all of these different opportunities that I had to capture The King, formerly HRH Prince Charles, and I am really looking forward to being the Event Photographer of choice in any future Royal Engagements as The King of England.
Now! I am ready for The Coronation weekend of celebrations and to capture the Street Parties to celebrate The King’s Coronation
