Last week I attended the World Travel Market 2023 show at Excel London. It is home to the world’s travel trade, the most influential travel show globally. I have worked on countless occasions as an event photographer at Excel London as it is host to numerous world leading events.
Excel London Event Photography
Carmen was our photographer at a large exhibition at London ExCeL. The photos she took were fantastic, they really captured our service perfectly and were spot on to our brief. Our team onsite all commented how lovely she was and that shows in how relaxed they look in the photos. We can’t wait to work with Carmen again!
The Barista at ICE 2024
On this occasion I was doing the event photography for Egypt, which as you can expect had quite an impressive stand. My brief was to photograph the official visit of Ahmed Issa Minister of Tourism and Antiquities and all his official engagements through the opening day of the show.
As you can imagine photographing high profile government figures can be quite demanding and you have to be ready at the second as everything is extremely fast-paced, with a really heavy schedule.
For this I find that my background as a News and Press photographer makes me a perfect fit for these type of events, as I know how official visits work and what makes the picture, I am capable of anticipating the moment and being ready to capture it in a split of a second.
The minister made sure that he shook hands and greeted everyone that he came across and spend time in engaging conversations and learning all about the new developments in the region.
A big part of doing event photography during an official visit is to capture everything as it unfolds, documenting the visit. This type of photography is absolutely my favourite, as I love producing documentary photography and capturing all those expressions and reactions as an observant – providing a set of images that when looking at them it will reflect the event as it happened in the most accurate way.
Event Photographer – Trade Show Photographer
There was very little time to spare but I did manage to squeeze in some stand photography for context. My main aim was to capture with my photography the stand as vibrant and busy as possible, with plenty of interactions and showing the size and scale of it amongst the trade show as well as capturing those little details and making sure that I include the main branding and avoid neighbouring brandings in my pictures. This can be a bit complicated but not for an experience photographer like myself that has photographed brands and trade shows on countless occasions.
