As part of Women’s History Month, the 8th of March marks International Women’s Day 2023. So the month and particularly the week around that date is heavily populated for an event photographer as different events take place in London and globally.
It is a busy week, not just for an event photographer but more so for a female event photographer. Due to the nature of the events we are in particularly high demand – so I couldn’t finish this week with a different post, but i’m dedicating it to International Women’s Day.
I was delighted to be called for my event photographer skills by Northeastern University to be their event photographer at Women Who Empower our World, that they were hosting at their London Campus, right next to Tower Bridge. The event was part of a series that the University are holding globally in honour of Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day 2023.
Event Photographer: Women Who Empower our World
I was truly honoured to be their event photographer of choice as the event was an incredible success and was attended by Northeastern University President Joseph E. Aoun, Senior Vice President Diane Nishigaya MacGillivray,Young Global Leaders and fellow members of Northeastern’s community.

Event photographer: The Speakers and panel discussion
The program included inspiring speakers such as Whitney Bromberg Hawkings, founder and CEO of FLOWERBX and Sian Sutherland Co-founder of A Plastic Planet, followed by a panel discussion moderated by Julietta Dexter, Co-founder of ScienceMagic Inc.

During the panel discussion I was incredibly careful to not cause any disruption to the speakers or the audience, and made sure that I captured all the energy and passion from both of the speakers. I also made sure that I captured the audience looking engaged and also the members of the audience that were involved the most during the Q&A.

To close the panel discussion, there was a special performance by the Nor’easters, the university’s renowned a capella group that got the room clapping and singing. Their energy was really high and I tried to capture this with my photography.

After the event, students took the opportunity to meet the University President, Joseph E. Aoun, and have their photograph taken with him by myself (and of course a selfie for their socials!) and enjoy a networking reception with energizing conversations, drinks and canapés. The evening was an incredible opportunity to build connections, share stories and empower the future generations of leaders.

Your take away
International Women’s Day is a busy, not only day, but week that the vast majority of organisations and institutions celebrate in some way. Those celebrations need to be captured so you can share them and inspire your audience!
